Sent Box and Out Box

Post Sent Box and Out Box 
Why do some messages appear in the Sent Box, while others are in the Out Box. Have the ones in the Out Box actually been sent? Curious

Hi,

When messages are in the outbox, they have been sent but not read. They move from the outbox to the sent box when they have been read.
